Foxglen Stud

Welsh Cobs / Sports horses in Normandy

We started breeding Welsh Cobs and large part-breds, over 20 years ago, and it all started with the purchase of Maesmynach Llwynog from Eric Davies when he was a 2 year old. We bought him for his size and quality to cross with thoroughbred mares.

Well then we were hooked, Winny as we called him stole our hearts, he was so versatile and clever and also a very talented jumper. He competed BSJA with us in Horse classes, as well as winning and being placed in many ridden Welsh classes including the Royal Welsh. He also went on to sire many part-bred performance horses for show jumping, eventing and dressage, sadly not all have retained our prefix and have competed under different names.

We then went on to breeding our large performance cobs and have done so ever since. They are now all over Europe and doing very well in all disciplines. It always gives us great pleasure to hear news of our babies and now with email it is so easy to receive photos too.

We have gone on to be proud owners of stallions such as Foxglen Borealis, Rhydfendigaid Daniel, Uplands Cosmonaut, Ynysacan Llewelyn and we also had the pleasure of leasing Wishaw Briton Lad for one season.

We also now have over 3 generations of our own mares and are now standing a stallion here in France, Foxglen Express, who is a grandson of Maesmynach Llwynog.

In 2000 our stallion Foxglen Borealis won the ridden stallion class at the Royal Welsh Show which was always our ambition, so it was very sweet to succeed the year before we left to start our new life in France.

In 2006 our mare Foxglen Fabulous won the supreme championship at the national show at the Haras du Pin, and then in 2007, Foxglen Express won the stallion class at the national show at Lyon díAngers

We are still selling our stock all over Europe and can arrange reasonably priced transport to your door as well as providing excellent accommodation for potential buyers. We love having visitors as we did when we were in the UK and hosted a stud visit in 2007 when the International show was so sadly cancelled.

We have a selection of homebred stock for sale each year of all ages.

Visitors are very welcome but please phone first.
